Unit members from the 193rd Special Operations Wing's Aerial Port and a load master ensure clearance for equipment while it is loaded on a C-130J Hercules Aug. 28, 2017. The equipment is the Joint Incident Site Communications Capability package from the 271st Combat Communications Squadron from Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, Pennsylvania, being transported to the Texas region in support of relief efforts for Hurricane Harvey. Bi-fold auxiliary ramps (canary slides) allow for quick deployment during infiltration and exfiltration airland operations. Loadmasters depress the locking mechanism with their foot, allowing for the ramps to extend out as they deploy onto the ground.

The 193rd Special Operations Wing’s 271st Combat Communications Squadron, Annville, Pa., hosted a change of command ceremony March 10. Lt. Col. Michael Rockwell relinquished command of the 271st and passes the guidon back to Col. Terrence Koudelka Jr., 193rd Regional Support Group commander. Colonel Rockwell served as the 271st commander since May of 2009 and works full-time as the senior director of the Industry Activities Division of Aeronautical Radio Incorporated.
