Air Force Outstanding Unit Award ribbon

The 193rd Special Operations Wing earned the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award for the 17th time recently. The Air Force Outstanding Unit Award was authorized by Department of the Air Force General Order 1, signed Jan. 6, 1954. It is given to units that distinguish themselves for exceptional meritorious service and outstanding achievement. A bronze V device is worn on the ribbon to denote an award for combat or direct combat support actions. Oak leafs and oak leaf cluster are also authorized for subsequent awards.
