Preserving History
This is a slide scanned from a summer day 1957 at Spaatz Field at the Reading Airport, then home of the 140th Aeromedical Transport Squadron of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. This is the point in time when the Fighter Squadron was disbanded and the new "cargo" mission was employed to the unit members who begrudgingly gave up their P-51 Mustangs. This Mustang was preserved and used as a static display.
