MIDDLETOWN, Pa. -- In a change of command ceremony here Aug. 14, Lt. Col. Julie Carpenter was appointed as the 193rd Special Operations Medical Group commander. Carpenter succeeds Col. David Gann, who retired from the position and the Air National Guard.

"You have impressed us with your incredible work throughout the years," Gann said to Carpenter during the ceremony. "We absolutely know you're the right person to take the medical group to new heights."

Carpenter previously served as the 193rd SOMDG Detachment 1 commander before taking on her new role as medical group commander.

"I've learned so much from Col. Gann and I'm looking forward to this honor as well as getting to know the medics and Airmen," said Carpenter.
