Maintenance squadron appoints first female commander

193rd Special Operations Wing

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. -- During a change of command ceremony here June 11, Col. Michael Watson, former 193rd Special Operations Maintenance Squadron commander, presented the guidon to Lt. Col. Amy Crossley, appointing her as the new 193rd SOMXS commander. Crossley is the first female to take on this role at the 193rd Special Operations Wing.

"I've always wondered what it would be like to be the one receiving the guidon," said Crossley. "Now I can tell you that it is both humbling and exciting."

Crossley previously served as the 193rd SOW executive officer before taking on her new role as squadron commander.
