The 193rd Special Operations Wing recruiting and retention team earned the national Region IV 2015 Patriot Team of the Year award at their annual certification and training course in Gulfport, Mississippi, April 18.

Receiving this award is a reflection of how accomplished and successful the recruiting and retention team is by excelling in all areas combined, said Master Sgt. Jason Prough, a 193rd SOW recruiting and retention manager.

The Patriot Team of the Year award recognizes the top wing recruiting and retention team that showcases superior programs. This award takes into account leadership and job performance, significant self-improvement as well as base and community involvement.

The 193rd SOW recruiting and retention team completed a year full of accomplishments to include revitalizing the officer process, which led to the most new officer accessions ever in the wing, according to information from the award submission document. The team also enlisted more than 200 Airmen, the highest achieved in five years, which contributed to 51 percent of the entire state of Pennsylvania's goal.

"We all work really hard in our jobs, not to win awards, just to recruit and retain because it's our passion," said Master Sgt. Natalie Briggs, a 193rd SOW recruiting and retention manager. "It's rewarding to know that other people see the hard work."
