With over a 130 ft wingspan even an inch difference in grade at the tires is esentuated two fold at the tips of the wings. This EC-130E Commando Solo, a longtime workhorse at the 193rd Special Operations Wing, Pennsylvania Air National Guard, located at the Harrisburg International Airport, Middletown, Pa., is being carted to its final resting spot amid various obsticles at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, Pa., home of the PA National Guard Headquarters, October 4, 2006. Preserving History

This is a slide scanned from a summer day 1957 at Spaatz Field at the Reading Airport, then home of the 140th Aeromedical Transport Squadron of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. This is the point in time when the Fighter Squadron was disbanded and the new "cargo" mission was employed to the unit members who begrudgingly gave up their P-51 Mustangs. This Mustang was preserved and used as a static display.

Transitioning from the EC-121 Constellation (left) to the EC-130 Hercules was a big step for the 193rd Tactical Electric Warfare Group in the late 1970's. The fuel to run th Connie was being phased out of the Air Force and the newer airframe of the Hercules allowed for newer technology to come to the forefront.
