An EC130-J Commando Solo flying a recent training mission over south central Pennsylvania. Commando Solo is a specially-modified four-engine Hercules transport that conducts military information support operations broadcasting information on various radio and television frequencies. With the tower of Muir Field located at Fort Indiantwon Gap, Annville, Pennsylvania home of the Pa National Guard Headquartes, this EC-130E Commando Solo makes is final landin in a long storied career March 8, 2006. This specially modified aircraft formally stationed with the 193rd Special Operations Wing at the Harrisburg International Airport Middletown, Pa. with the tail number 63-7773 affectionately known as "The Triple Cripple" was chosen to be this display. Solos over Farmland
A new era is ushered in for the 193rd Special Operations Wing Pennsylvania Air National Guard March 28, 2006 as EC-130E and EC-130J commando solo aircraft take to the skys over South Central Pa. for the first and last time together. The E model, a Viet Nam era aircraft, makes way for the new J model whose engines are more efficient in allowing the aircraft to travel farther, faster and higher than before, a great capability for the broadcast mission of the 193rd SOW.
